Latino Generations Endowment Fund

Appreciating the past. Empowering the Future.

Latinos make up nearly 60% of San Benito County residents, according to the US Census Bureau in 2010. Yet, the breakdown in education of Latinos who are 25 years and older in our county indicates economic disparities. Thirty-seven percent of Latinos lack a high school diploma while only twenty-seven percent have attained a high school diploma or a GED, per the San Benito County Education Data of Town Charts.

The Latino Generations Endowment (LGE) fund serves as a sustainable launching platform aimed at helping Latinos succeed and for reducing the disparities across the county. The endowment fund and committee members introduce opportunities for Latinos to stand with community leaders and actively engage as a collective voice for the Latino community in San Benito County - now and into the future. The LGE works towards bridging generations of inspiring active participants focused on closing the current gaps in advancement, achievement, and economic well-being for our Latino community.

Our Mission

To create a permanent revenue source to invest in the most pressing needs facing the Latino community within San Benito County

The Latino Generations Scholarship Program essentially began in 2016 with a single gift from Fr. Larry Betrozoff, $10,000 which was awarded to eight Latinas who graduated from San Benito High School. Grants are awarded to Latino students who possess an economic need and will be attending either a two-year or four-year university or a certified vocational training institution. Applications are available below.
