Nonprofits and the Community Benefit from Community Impact Matching Grants
"Fumigation and spraying of termites, funded in part by a Community Impact Matching Grant, helped to restore integrity of the Wellness Center at Chamberlain’s Children Center." — Denise Cauthen-Wright
The Community Foundation for San Benito County created a formal grant program in 2003 and formed a partnership with the David Lucille Packard Foundation in 2009. During the past nine years, the Packard Foundation has granted a total of $2,585,000 to the Community Foundation for regranting to local nonprofits. This relationship has been instrumental in creating a positive impact on the lives of many people who live in our community.
The current Community Impact Matching Grant cycle will open on Monday, February 5, 2018. Nonprofits located in San Benito County, or those nonprofits who serve San Benito County, should submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) following the Guidelines provided on our website.
The Community Foundation awards grants through a competitive application and review process. Organizations with projects or programs that create a positive impact, in areas of demonstrated need within San Benito County, will receive the greatest emphasis. The Grants Committee, representing a broad spectrum of San Benito County, will review the LOIs, and perform a needs assessment for each request. If a Matching Grant Application is warranted, the Committee will reach out for a complete application to be reviewed, with recommendations provided to the Board.
As an underserved community, our grant program remains an important source of revenue toward capacity building and program support for our nonprofit organizations. The Community Foundation is looking forward to learning about all the wonderful new projects planned for 2018. Be sure to check the Guidelines and submit your LOI before the deadline, Friday, March 30, 2018.
The Community Foundation for San Benito County is dedicated to building a stronger community and enhancing the quality of life in San Benito County through the support of philanthropic activities.
