Jean Gillaspie Memorial Scholarship - Nursing

Jean lived in both Hollister and San Juan Bautista, working for the Free Lance, office manager at Cal Turf/Pacific Sod, and employee at San Benito Agriculture Commissioner. She was a member and past President of Young Ladies Institute, volunteered her time to Hazel Hawkins Hospital, and served on the Hollister Grand Jury Committee. In her 80s and 90s, Jean operated a wedding floral and craft business. A 3-time breast cancer survivor, Jean would crochet blankets and donate many to cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.

The Jean Gillaspie Memorial Scholarship for Nursing is available to high school graduates residing in San Benito County who have been accepted into an Accredited Registered Nursing Program.

Eligibility Requirements

• A San Benito County resident
  
• GPA 3.0 or higher (recommended)
• Accepted into Accredited Registered Nursing Program

A Complete Application includes:

• Scholarship Application
• 2 letters of recommendation (one from a teacher or academic advisor, one from a community member)
• Personal Statement (1 1/2 - 2 pages double spaced) including why you have chosen to pursue a career in nursing.
• Transcript (official or unofficial)
