Sandy Rose Remembered as a Friend of the Community Foundation
Sandra Lee Sans Rose, a lifelong resident of San Benito County, passed away at her home on February 28, 2017. Sandy served San Benito County in many ways, but she will always be remembered as a friend of the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
Sandy’s life was filled with philanthropy, but she wanted to do more for nonprofits in San Benito County. In 2000, she and her husband George became Founding Benefactors of the Community Foundation to help launch our grantmaking work, fulfilling their vision of a community with promise for many generations to come.
In 2004, Sandy joined the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, a position she held for ten years, including two years as Board Chair in 2010 and 2011.
Community Foundation CEO, Gary Byrne, remembers Sandy as a woman with convictions. “Sandy felt it was instrumental for the Community Foundation to achieve National Standards Compliance with the Council on Foundations, and although the process was long and arduous, she was so happy to see the process come to fruition under her leadership. And here we are five years later, going for our renewal.
In her lifetime, Sandy was a mentor to many, and a shining star in our community, and we are honored to receive donations as a legacy of her community interests. We extend our deepest sympathies to Sandy’s entire family during this difficult time.
